There are more than than 2000 billionaires on Forbes' 'The Richest in 2022' list — but only a scattering come up from the world of cryptocurrency and none of them are named 'CZ'.

But four entrepreneurs who made their fortunes in crypto were included amongst the 2,095 billionaires the magazine named on April 8. The richest man in crypto is Bitmain co-founder Micree Zhan, who appears at No. 690 on the listing with a net worth of $3.two billion. His co-founder Jihan Wu is not too far backside at No.1307, with $ane.8 billion.

Rounding out the crypto contingent is the former CEO of Ripple Chris Larsen (No. 886, $2.6 billion) and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong (No. 2087, $1 billion). Between them, these iv billionaires have a combined net worth of roughly $8.7 billion.

Despite being reportedly worth more than than a billion dollars, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao was conspicuously absent from the Forbes' listing. Zhao was named third amidst a list of "The Richest People In Cryptocurrency" by the publication in February 2022. Gemini founders Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are worth an estimated $1.viii billion, separately but shy of the criterion for inclusion.

There were plenty of billionaires from traditional finance, including Bitcoin opponent Warren Buffett, who is said to be worth $75.4 billion. Even before Zoom took off during the Stay At Home era, Zoom CEO Eric Yuan had already made his fortune. The newcomer to the list has $5.5 billion to his proper noun.

Bitcoin or bananas?

Cryptocurrency and blockchain engineering science companies have seen major investments from millionaires and billionaires alike, but some who fabricated their fortunes using more established means — like Buffett — are reluctant to accept cryptocurrencies. Mark Cuban, clocking in at $four.6 billion, has said he'd rather "have bananas" than Bitcoin.
