Tank Battle - Review

The title of this Windows Phone game says it all; Tank Battle. Your goal is elementary, destroy the enemy tanks. The battlefield is peppered with obstacles that not only hinder your movement but also acts as protection from enemy fire.

To see how large or tiny a smash Tank Battle tin exist, power your way past the pause.

Game Layout

The main menu of Tank Battle has options to enter the boxing, resume saved games in progress, admission info virtually the game/developer and access the game's options.

Options embrace sound and controls. Yous can control your tank ane of two ways. Yous have the Bear on/Chase Control pick where the tank moves in the management of where you've tapped the screen. A second tap fires your cannon.

The other pick is Arcade Controls that places movement and fire control icons at the bottom of the screen. To the left is the rotation controls and to the correct is the accelerator and fire controls.

Here's my get-go (and peradventure the merely) knock on the game. Tank Battle needs improve controls. The Touch/Chase option isn't very responsive and the Arcade icons are awfully pocket-sized.

I'm not certain what the answer is but if the Arcade Icons were a little larger, maybe that would practise the fox but then you cede more of the playing field. Also, in that location'south no reverse. You can easily get stuck betwixt a rock and a hard space.

Let'due south go set to rumble

Yous brainstorm Tank Battle at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and as you lot defeat your enemies, yous have the opportunity to motion up in rank. It'south a win/loss blazon situation in that as you progress in rank, your enemies get tougher.

The game screen has a stat bar running beyond the summit of the screen. Here you'll come across your armor level, ability ups in use and current level of play. Ability ups help temporarily upgrade your armor, cannon and maneuverability. You can collect power ups by running over them.

The battlefield is populated with an assortment of tanks (who will burn down upon ane some other) and y'all but move about blowing them to smithereens. At some point in fourth dimension, enemy tanks will be joined by helicopter gunships.

Overall Impression

Tank Battle'due south game play was nice but it was hard to become over the challenging controls. I often wanted to rotate left just the controls are and so close, I rotated correct. The burn down and move controls are spaced just their size becomes the challenge.  With the Touch/Chase pick, I often found myself stuck behind a boulder unable to turn around.  All of which made for an easy target for the enemy tanks.

Sound effects, animation, and overall mission of the game does make Tank Boxing an attractive game. As is, Tank Boxing is a fun game to pass the time with in brusque bursts but lacks that "I'k hooked" feature to give the game an addictive quality.

There is a free trial available for Tank Boxing with the full version running $1.29. You can download either hither (opens Zune) at the Marketplace.
